A group of New York City women formed Neighborhood Women’s Collective, Incorporated (NWC) in the summer of 2014. In September of that year, NWC was incorporated as a not for profit organization dedicated to encouraging women and girls to become active in their communities and confident of their own power to identify and resolve important issues in their lives.
Our objective is to empower women and girls who are vulnerable to social and economic challenges. In order to achieve this objective, our programs build self-sufficiency in a three-pronged approach that includes entrepreneurial development, workshops and a referral bank. Volunteers and an occasional expert consultant conduct the majority of our work. We collaborate with homeless shelters, churches, social service agencies and other organizations in New York City.
